Charles Onunaiju

is a journalist, academic, and the director of the Center for China Studies (CCS) in Abuja, Nigeria. Additionally, he is a member of the China-Africa Institute's International Advisory Committee.

He oversaw the diplomatic and international desks of several prestigious Nigerian newspapers before this. In addition to three books, "China and Nigeria in World Affairs" (2008), "China/Africa, Issues, Challenges and Possibilities" (2012), and "China and the struggle for modernization: From Revolution to Reform" (2016), he has published numerous essays on China-Africa cooperation.

He was the first African to win China's Special Book Award (2016), which was established by the People's Republic of China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television. Charles has taken part in and presented working papers at every China-Africa Think Tanks Forum, which has been hosted in China as well as several African nations. He has a bachelor's degree in international relations and a master's degree in humanities (philosophy).
