Dr Munyi

is a Senior Research Associate with the China-Africa Center. He teaches International Relations as an Assistant Professor at the United States International University in Nairobi.

He graduated from Aalborg University in Denmark with a PhD in international relations. His current area of study is international economic relations in Africa. Among other books, he is the editor of Beyond History: African Agency in Development, Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolution (co-edited with David Mwambari and Aleksi Ylonen). As the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies 2019 SAIS-CARI Fellowship recipient, he is currently a visiting fellow at the Graduate Institute Global Health Center in Geneva. His current area of research interest is the impact of the Great Power Competition on African countries' development cooperation.
