API has obtained a registration Number from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau and is currently, engaged in the process of obtaining a Hosting Centre at the Makerere University in Kampala Uganda by December 2021.
API held a session with the East African Institute of Planners and the Sudan Planners Institute. API Africa Partnerships unit is yet to conclude a memorandum of understanding including areas of collaboration.
API also held a successful meeting with the government of Japan in February 2021 for the possibility of promoting partnerships/collaboration. The Government of Japan is waiting for a project proposal from API through Makerere University.
API held meetings with officials of Common Wealth Association of Architects, Common Wealth Association of Planners and India Institute of Human Settlements.
API has also attained a team of volunteer staff to support API work within the Secretariat in Uganda.
API has filled almost all positions on the structure where the Regional Director positions including the Deputy Regional Directors are filled, by December 2021, all country Director Positions will also be filled.
API has active and operational social media platforms which include Facebook, Telegram Linked In, Twitter and YouTube channel. The weekend talk show Bonjour Afrika was also launched. Volunteers are purchasing their own necessary equipment to improve the programme.
The API website is www.apiafrica.org is fully, operational and still undergoing quality assurance tests.
The API programmes are fully, operational. These are Programme1: Africa and International Partnerships, Programme 2: Spatial Planning and Built Environment Design, Programme 3: Knowledge Management and Programme 4 Policy Formulation and Evaluation that is linked to the eleven Sustainable Goals of the United Nations.
API completed the participatory consultation on the API constitution. It will be signed off soon by the Top Management by December 2021.
