Our policy-relevant research presents the past and current state of play, implications for the future and options to inform policy decisions. Because of its strategic location in Nairobi, the Institute has a vantage point in monitoring, engaging key actors and conducting field-based research.

In addition to books and peer-reviewed articles in professional journals, API experts publish over 400 short articles in key media outlets and API website. Our research and knowledge is shared through:

- Policy Briefs and Reports providing easily accessible analysis to inform decision-making on current challenges.
-Africa Policy, API’s Monthly Bulletin and a source of nuanced perspectives and analysis by our experts and networks.
