Professor Peter Kagwanja is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Policy Institute (API). His work spans policy research, public-sector advisory, governance, foreign policy and strategic regional affairs.
He previously served as an adviser to the Government of Kenya on reforms and strategy between 2007 and 2013, contributing intellectual leadership to major governance and policy processes, including Kenya’s 2010 Constitution and the country’s foreign-policy development.
Professor Kagwanja has also served as a Special Adviser to the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and is regularly consulted by African governments, United Nations agencies, the European Union and international partners.

He has been associated with advisory and academic networks concerned with Africa’s international relations and China-Africa cooperation.
