President Mwai Kibaki is, undoubtedly, Kenya’s most consequential leader. The East African country’s third President of Kenya (2002- 2013), who died on April 21, 2022 revived Kenya’s economy, bequeathed the country its first ever foreign policy document, a new constitution, one of Africa’s most independent judiciary and a merit- based society.

On the second Anniversary of his passing on, a group of eminent Kenyans have launched the Mwai Kibaki Annual Memorial Lecture and Award Gala Night to keep his ideas alive. The 2024 series of the memorial lecture, “Mwai Kibaki: Celebrating the Legacy of a Pan-African Icon”, will be held on April 20 in Nairobi.

The keynote speaker at the event is Francis Muthaura, who accomplished the rare feat of serving in pivotal positions under Kenya’s five presidents: Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki, Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, and the author of a new book: A Moving Horizon: A Memoir.
